How To Play

You’ll host the game for others to play.

The game shows an image of something that they (hopefully) know, but it has been pixelated beyond recognizability. They’ll get to see clearer and clearer images until they manage to tell what it is.

If someone thinks they can identify it, they take a guess. But they only get one guess. If all players pass, increase the clarity level.

Or, play casually: everyone guesses as much as they want, until someone correctly shouts out what it is. Give it around 10 seconds for each clarity level, then go on to the next.

How To UI

Simply click or tap the image to step to the next clearer image.
Arrow keys also work: up to start, down to end, left/right step one by one.

Also, you can use the slider bar beneath image to select image clarity. TODO: swipe interface on mobile.

Scroll down to the Restart button to reset max pixelization and re-center the image.

For the next game, click “Choose File” to select a local image, or paste an image URL and click GO to play a new game.

Tips to play with your phone at your TV

1. Share the URL with everyone
2. Save the page to your home screen (to run without browser UI getting in the way)
3. Keep your phone horizontal
4. Select your image and start the game
5. Display your phone’s screen on your TV for everyone to see (that’s something technology can do, right?)
6. Hopefully someone else will put up an image next round, so you can play and not host images all the time

Known issues:
Sometimes the image scales badly. Rather than fix that, there is a Restart button to re-align the image. (this’ll happen when run from the home screen, after rotating the phone)
URL-linked images sometimes don’t work. You can just as easily download them and then use that instead.
